Allison Criswell left behind a legacy of unconditional love, generosity, and kindness. Allison (Alli) was a beloved and devoted wife to Brian and mother to their two precious children, Charlotte (9) and Tucker (7), who were the center of her universe and the ultimate joy of her life. She was a deeply caring and supportive daughter, sister, and aunt. Nothing was more important to Alli than her family. She was a thoughtful, compassionate, and cherished friend to many throughout her life, serving as a trusted confidante, faithful advisor, and enthusiastic celebrator of all of life’s little and big moments. Alli possessed a broad array of talents and her accomplishments were numerous: star athlete, standout student, phenomenal hostess, interior design aficionado, successful investment banker; but, above all, she was most proud of her role as a loving mother.

Alli was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer when she was just 34 years old and passed away after a quiet, but remarkably brave and courageous battle just over a year later in 2020. Her family and friends were left devastated by this enormous loss. Since Alli’s passing, her family and close friends have been searching for ways to honor her incredible life and legacy, including raising awareness for triple negative breast cancer.

Unfortunately, Alli’s story is one of many. Approximately every half hour, a woman in the US is diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). TNBC tends to be more aggressive, more likely to recur, and more difficult to treat than other forms of breast cancer. It disproportionately strikes younger women, Black women, and women with BRCA1 genetic mutations. While major strides have been made in TNBC treatment over the years, continued research investment is critical to the development of life-saving targeted treatments.

The Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation is teaming up with the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center so that all proceeds raised at this event will benefit a research grant to UNC to support basic, translational, and clinical research for Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). The grant research approaches will: 1) Develop new treatments that are tailored and less toxic, 2) Expand molecular subtyping to enhance precision therapeutics, and 3) Collaborate on nutrition, metabolism, and disease prevention.

Please join us to honor Alli and to raise money for the amazing work being done by the TNBC Foundation and the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
